GOLF LESSONS 2019

About Alec Grant

For Alec Grant, Taylor Golf’s assistant golf director and PGA pro, being involved with golf Downriver is a natural fit. He grew up in Brownstown and went to Woodhaven High School. At 13, he was a caddy at Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club. He enjoyed the golf course so much that he decided to make a career out of it.

Grant attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids as part of its Professional Golf Management Program. He then interned all over the country. “I never looked back,” he said. “I love the golf industry.”

Now working at the Lakes of Taylor and Taylor Meadows, Grant can’t say enough good things about the courses. “The conditions are fantastic,” he said. “Each course is very different. They are typical of Arthur Hills designed courses. They require a lot of different shots as you move from hole to hole. Frankly, they are a blast to play. Plenty of hills and undulations. They demand a lot of creativity around the greens. These are destination courses. The new hole design at Taylor Meadows is great. Holes 10, 11 and 12 are fantastic now, a true upgrade. We get travelers all the time because the airport is so close by. Their overwhelming response is about how cheap it is to play our golf courses. When you look at our prices, it is a tremendous deal.”
