Petting Farm celebrates 20th anniversary
Saturday, August 6, 2022
This August, while Taylor is celebrating its monumental 175th anniversary as a community, the Heritage Park Petting Farm will have its own reason to celebrate. The farm has reached 20 full years of serving the residents of the City and the Downriver community.
The concept for a petting farm as part of a Parks and Recreation Department-originated concept to pay homage to Taylor’s rich farming history, and rests on what was previously the Petroska family farm.
While visiting the farm today, which houses 70 farm animals for the entirety of their lives, guests can see pieces of history saved from the Petroska family through pictures and old relics.
Annually, the petting farm sees over 20,000 visitors and is open year round. Besides just daily visits, the farm hosts birthday parties, school tour trips, and event programming. As a part of the 175th township celebration and in honor of the farm’s 20th birthday, the community will receive free admission on August 6 during the hours of noon-5 p.m. To redeem this free admission, the entrance will be located inside Heritage Park as part of the celebration going planned around Coan Lake.
Come and visit. You won’t be disappointed.
