White House Coronavirus Task Force Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx visited Michigan this week to discuss the state’s response to COVID-19. That and more in the Wayne County Report for September 4, 2020.
Dr. Birx met with Governor Gretchen Whitmer to discuss how the COVID-19 has swept across the country and state this summer. She said the numbers are down here in Michigan, but the state is not out of the woods yet.
Dr. Birx had the following warning:
“What we now learn is you can’t tell if a person has (COVID-19). Frankly, that person themselves may be so asymptomatic that they don’t know they have it. So let’s over this Labor Day weekend really protect one another. Be safe like you have been this summer.”
According to the countywide health information for September 3, 2020, Taylor registered only one new case (for a total of 975 overall). No deaths were reported; that total remains at 76.
Gov. Whitmer also issued a new executive order, extending the state’s emergency through October 1, 2020.
