The City of Taylor’s ongoing “Good to Great (G2G) Neighborhood Improvement Program” is moving its latest area, and the final one for 2020. Area No. 19 includes the neighborhoods between Taylor Meadows Golf Course on the north, Beech Daly on the west, Cherokee on the east and Charles on the south.
Residents living in Area No. 19 will receive information by mail soon.
Originally, G2G planned to finish the season in Area No. 20, in the southwest corner of the City. However, due to delays caused by the worldwide pandemic, Area No. 19 will be the final neighborhood renovated in 2020. G2G will likely begin with Area No. 20 in the spring.
Good to Great focuses on making enhancements such as beautification, parks, signage, trees, utilities, roads, catch basins, neighborhood businesses, LED lighting, blight removal, sewer maintenance and even public safety.
Our goal is neighborhood improvement and compliance and we seek the partnership of residents in helping us accomplish just that. You will see our City workers and officials coming through your area to not only get a first-hand view of your neighborhood but to connect with the residents and get a better understanding of the needs in your area for improvement. During this effort we welcome your comments and concerns.
As part of this program, the Taylor Police will be holding a meet-and-greet session with residents. This gathering will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, behind the fire station on Ecorse Road. This is an opportunity for the police officers to interact with the residents to get a better understanding of the safety concerns in your area. Please stop by and chat with them.
G2G offers free mulch for own property enhancement. The City of Taylor have free mulch located in the following locations:
- Dead end of Charles Street
- Taylor Meadows Golf Course parking lot
G2G also offers a new tree program for replacements or additions of trees in the easement (between sidewalk and street). These are easement-friendly trees and are offered at a discount price of $200. Once you have purchased a tree from the following list, we will install them in your easement in a bed of soft-edge mulch and provide a slow release watering bag per tree.
All feedback, as well as any inquiries into the tree program, can be directed to Program Coordinator Sam DiCicco at email@example.com. Please title your email “Good to Great” Program, Area #19.
