Podcast: Golf is in the air!

Lakes of Taylor 17 green

Taylor Golf is open for play this season, and the courses at the Lakes of Taylor and Taylor Meadows are ready to welcome you!

Special guest on this week's City of Taylor Podcast, "Coffee with Mayor Rick Sollars," is Golf, Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Dobek, who discusses off-season upgrades to both facilities.

Taylor Meadows will take on a distinctive new look thanks to its first major course renovation since it was built, featuring an all-new pond, tee and fairway and other alterations that have turned it into a Par 72 course with four Par 5’s. A new cart/equipment facility near Beech Daly Road is also under construction. The renovations will not only improve play, but safety, which was a concern on several holes.

Lakes of Taylor also opened its driving range this month, featuring all new driving mats and new range balls. The carpeting in the clubhouse was replaced this offseason.

In addition to golf, both facilities feature eateries. Lunchtime business at the Lakes’ Lake House Grille makes it a very popular destination point, while the Meadows’ Greenside Grille has become more popular for a later brunch-dinner crowd.

Both courses do a heavy golf league business. Mayor Rick Sollars reminds businesses that plenty of corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
