Ron Mills honored by the City of Taylor

Ron Mills, the longest serving commissioner in the history of the City of Taylor, was honored by Mayor Rick Sollars, City Council, Treasurer Edward Bourassa and Clerk Cindy Bower on Tuesday, May 2.

For the past 44 years, Mills has served on the Recreation Commission and the Taylor Building Authority. He is retiring after his final term on the TBA.

His services were recognized with a proclamation and a standing ovation from City officials and members of the audience during the City Council meeting.

Ron and his wife, Melvinia, moved to Taylor from Canada in 1959. During their half-century of marriage, the couple had four children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ron Mills retired from Ford Motor Co. after 18 ½ years working as a draftsman.

“They don’t make them like Ron Mills anymore,” Mayor Rick Sollars said. “Ron has been a tremendous asset to Taylor. People like Ron Mills and his family have helped make Taylor the great community that is it today. We all thank him for his great service.”
