It's been a long time between blogs!
Welcome to the world's best teams of 13- and 14-year-old baseball players, who have been arriving in Taylor. It's pretty neat to watch the players exit their bus in Heritage Park and check out World Series Field for the first time. About half the teams took part in the Friday night barbecue under the pavilion next to the field. A lot of our great volunteers were there, too, greeting each other for the first time in a year.
Teams will start arriving in Taylor mid-week for the Junior League World Series of baseball. As public relations director of the series, it’s one of my longest weeks of the year, but it’s also my most gratifying.
There is a buzz at the Taylor Sportsplex this week as two major inline hockey tournaments have drawn thousands of players, coaches and spectators.
The AAU’s Junior Olympics is being played on two levels: Under 16 and Under 14. There are plenty of teams from the United States to cheer for, but there are also teams from Canada, Mexico, Great Britain and even Colombia, South America.
