Drop by the library for a different movie screening every month with Audio Description (AD). AD is an additional narration track explains what's happening on screen, and is intended primarily for blind and visually impaired audiences.

Sometimes children have challenging behaviors that seem impossible to handle or may seem odd or strange. Sensory issues may be playing a role in these types of behaviors. In this workshop, with Emily Cataldo, an occupational therapist with Detroit Institute for Children, we will learn about sensory issues. She will explore signs and symptoms, where to look for help, and strategies for parents to use at home to address behaviors.

Plarning is making yarn from out of plastic strips (plarn) cut from grocery bags. The strips are crocheted into 3'x6' mats that are distributed to the homeless. The mats are lightweight, washable, bug resistant and also benefit our environment by putting the plastic bags to good use instead of our landfills. Approximately 700-1000 bags are used to complete one mat. This group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:30 am. We always need volunteers to sort, cut or crochet. If this interests you, why not join in and help provide a means for a needy cause and pass a good deed forward. We'd love to have you!

This low impact aerobics class is a fun way to exercise and also make new friends, all while getting in shape at the same time. Her exercises are exclusively designed by her to fit the needs and challenges of the aging body. These exercises can help with balance, osteoporosis, arthritis, bone density, knee and more. Weight bearing and dynaband exercises are included as well. So shut off your TV, get off your chair and see the positive results that can happen!
