8th Annual Mother's Day Plant Sale

“Our Plant Sale has always been known as a place to get unusual varieties of perennials, native plants and vines, but we wanted to make it more fun, educational and social this year, stated Perry Durham, TCF Plant Sale Chairman. “Rather than grabbing your plants and rushing off to your car, you’ll have the opportunity to relax, listen to music, grab a hot dog and learn some new things.”

New for Saturday will be a free 30-minute seminar on Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Beneficial Insects to Your Yard, by Master Gardener Jeff Nicita, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. under the Masco Pavilion. There will also be a Silent Auction from 10-3 p.m. and a Live Auction at 11:30 p.m. Hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be for sale, too.

The Live Auction will have many one-of-a-kind treasures for your garden or home, including: a beautiful 55-gallon planter rain-barrel, hand-crafted garden art, a Fairy Container Garden and a custom engraved 8” x 8” Paver to be installed at the Conservatory.

In honor of National Public Gardens Day, the Conservatory volunteers will be giving out free heirloom seeds with purchase, while supplies last. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any of your gardening questions, and refreshments will be available, too.

The Plant SViewale will continue on Sunday, from 10-4 p.m., but without the classes, auctions or food and drink.

The Plant Sale is a fundraiser for the Conservatory, so you not only get some great plants, but know your contributing to a great cause. Proceeds help fund family events and programs like the upcoming Art in the Garden series, Imagination in Bloom, and Butterfly Day.
