Blood drive June 24 at former Taylor fire station

The Taylor Police Department will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the former main fire station at 11101 Pine Street, just south of City Hall.

Appointments can be made online through the Red Cross electronic scheduling system at, sponsor code TaylorPD, or by calling donor recruitment representative Kim Beasley at (313) 549-7042. Walk-ins also are accepted.

Beasley said all presenting donors will receive a coupon book and will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 McDonald’s Arch Card donated by the Granader Family McDonald’s Restaurants.

The Taylor blood drive is part of the American Red Cross’s annual “blood battle of the cities” event, featuring competition between 13 Wayne County locations. Last year, Riverview and Wyandotte won trophies for collecting the most pints of blood for their population levels.

The Taylor Police Department has received platinum sponsor recognition from the Red Cross for its extensive efforts in organizing blood drives.
