Bowlers invited to fund-raiser for ChristNet homeless shelter

The second annual bowling fund-raiser to benefit the ChristNet Homeless Shelter is scheduled for Friday, August 20, at Taylor Lanes, 24800 Eureka Road. Registration is under way.

The check-in the night of the outing begins at 6:30. Bowling starts at 7 p.m.

Advance ticket sales are $20 per person, which includes three games of bowling, shoe rental and two slices of pizza. There will be door prizes, mystery games and 50/50 raffles.

ChristNet is a partnership of churches serving the homeless. As a faith-based initiative, ChristNet provides shelter, meals, clothing and personal care items on a daily basis to those who visit the center. In addition, to meet these immediate needs, ChristNet assists guest in gaining access to skills and services that will help them overcome the root causes of their homelessness. Perhaps most importantly, ChristNet offers guests a welcoming environment, hope and encouragement.

During the 2009-2010 season, ChristNet provided safe overnight shelter to 387 guests. There were 375 single adults, of whom 22 were veterans, as well as five families with five adults and seven children. The youngest guest was 11 months old; the oldest guest was 64 years old. ChristNet provided 35 safe nights for children, 1,701 safe nights for women and 4,921 safe nights for men.

The organization is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are appreciated and are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
