Celebration for a Drug Free Taylor

Celebration for a Drug Free Taylor set for May 30

Taylor, MI — The Celebration for a Drug Free Taylor will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, in the gymnasium at Journey of Hope Community Church located at 8900 Pardee Road (formerly Taylor Free Methodist). The annual event, sponsored by the Taylor Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, recognizes students, individuals and groups who are working to make Taylor a better place to live by encouraging their peers to make healthy lifestyle choices. Celebration activities will include an awards ceremony,  free food, refreshments and raffle prizes. The event is open to the public. This year, the Task Force will recognize Taylor school students who participated in originating art, poetry, and essay projects. This year’s theme is “What Makes a Healthy Community?” “We will be recognizing those individuals who are working on activities that are making an impact and improving lives in our community,” said task force organizer Jeremy Waechter. “The schools participating this year include the elementary schools making classroom banners on what the theme means to them. Our middle school students have made posters and poetry with the theme in mind and the high school students have written poems and essays.”
