Downriver's largest National Day of Prayer gathering is May 6 in Taylor

The largest National Day of Prayer observation in the Downriver area will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, in the plaza just east of Taylor City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road.

The event draws Taylor clergy and others to pray on a nationally recognized day of prayer. This year’s theme is “Prayer… America’s Strength and Shield.”

The Rev. Philip Nissley, pastor of New Hope Assembly of God and the area coordinator of National Day of Prayer, said there will be prayers for the city, its residents, their intentions and other local and national issues.

More than a dozen members of the clergy will be joined by representatives of city government, the Police Department, the Taylor School District and the business community. There will be patriotic music and a color guard.

The event is open to everyone.
