Great Heritage Park Campout

Saturday June 23rd & Sunday June 24th, 2012
The City of Taylor is joining the National Wildlife Federation in inviting our community to “campout” for a night in June.  Since 2005, thousands of people from across the nation come together the forth Saturday of June to participate in the Great American Backyard Campout in support of the Great Outdoors month.  This is a great way for families to connect with nature, sleep under the stars and create memories of outdoor experiences together.  On the night of June 23rd, a portion of Heritage Park in Taylor will be an actual campground.  For a fee of $30 per family (four campers) additional campers will be $6, families can set up a tent (one per spot). Also included will be a hot dog, chip and pop dinner that evening and a pancake breakfast the following morning. The Parks and Recreation Department will have a host tent set up and will offer guided nature walks in the wooded trails, fishing in Coan lake with professional fishermen, nature themed arts and crafts, family games, sing a longs by a huge camp fire, smores and much more!  Also, for families that would like to try canoeing can do so.  Heavner’s Canoe Rental will be on site from 6 -9 pm on Saturday offering canoe rentals for an extra fee.

Families can register at the Taylor Recreation Center, located at 22805 Goddard Road.  Registration deadline is June 15th; NO Walk ins will be accepted.  For more information on the event please call (734) 374-3901.
