It's Chinese Taipei vs. Florida for the championship of the 2011 Junior League World Series

A bases-loaded infield error in the bottom of the 10th inning allowed Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, to defeat Maracaibo, Venezuela, 3-2, and qualify for the finals of the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

The International champions will play Tampa, Florida, which shut out Tucson, Arizona, 4-0. The world championship game starts at 11 a.m. at Heritage Park, 12111 Pardee Road, Taylor.

Admission is $5 per carload. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Both Chinese Taipei and Florida are 5-0.

Taoyuan is seeking the second straight Junior League World Series championship for Chinese Taipei. A team from Taipei City defeated Tyler, Texas, 9-1 for the world title in 2010. It was the first time a team from Chinese Taipei competed in the Asia-Pacific regionf for the 13- and 14-year-old division of Little League International.

The Palma Ceia/Bayshore League from Tampa, Florida, won the Junior League World Series in Taylor in 2004. The current 13- and 14-year-olds from the Tampa league are seeking the same world title after winning the USA championship on Friday night.

A typical Junior League game lasts seven innings. Earlier in the week, it took four hours and 14 innings for Chinese Taipei to defeat Venezuela, 5-1. Friday night, the teams were tied at 2-2 heading into the bottom of the 10th.

Hung Yuan Lin led off the 10th with a single and advanced to third on walks to Chen Fei Lin and Chin Ou. With the bases loaded, 2 Yu Chieh Kao hit a ground ball to shortstop. The ball went under the fielder’s glove and Hung Yuan Lin scored the winning run.

Venezuela took a 2-0 lead in the game with a run in each of the first two innings. Mikey Edie scored the first run on a fielder’s choice. In the second, Jairo Miguelena singled home Jose Briceno.

Chinese Taipei tied it in the bottom of the third when Hung Yuan Lin’s bases-loaded ground-rule double scored Wei Fan Wang and Yu Chuan Wang. The scored the winning run in the 10th.

Hung Yuan Lin and Yu Chuan Wang had two hits each for Chinese Taipei. Yohgi Pozo and Yanigson Villalobos led Venezuela with two hits apiece.

Chin Ou gave up just two hits in three innings of relief to earn the victory.

Tampa, which went 6-0 in 2004, won its fifth straight game of the 2011 World Series, 4-0, over Tucson, Arizona, the champions of the USA West Region.

While Tampa pitcher Ronnie Ramirez was throwing a two-hit shutout, his team scored single runs in the first and third innings and added two in the fourth.

Ramirez himself led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored on a single by Jake Woodford. In the third, Woodford doubled and scored on a double by Carter Leslie.

And in the fourth, Woodford doubled home Dean Herman and Ramirez for a 3-for-4, three-RBI night. Ramirez was 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Both Arizona and Venezuela ended the World Series with a 3-2 record.
