MAN SUSPECTED IN INFANT BEATING TO BE ARRAIGNED TODAY
A 23-year-old Taylor man has been charged today with child abuse by the Wayne County Prosecutors office in connection with the beating of his 6-month-old son Saturday in Taylor.
Nicholas Alan Spirdione, 23, is expected to be arraigned today at 2:30 p.m. before Judge Geno Salomone in Taylor’s 23rd District Court. He is being charged with First-Degree Child Abuse, a 15-year felony.
On April 26, 2014 at approximately 4:48 p.m. the Taylor Police responded to a 911 call requesting that an ambulance be sent to the Spirdione’s home in the 6600 block of Pine Street for medical assistance for the infant who was struggling to breath and in and out of consciousness.
The mother of the child, is the girlfriend of Spirdione. The child received emergency surgery for injuries sustained to his head and remains in the hospital.
The baby has undergone several surgeries and remains in critical condition as of this morning.
