REWARD INCREASED: Advance America has increased the reward offered in the Chelsea Small murder

Advance America Cash Advance has increased the reward it is offering for information leading to an arrest in the murder of Chelsea Small by $10,000, Taylor Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said this morning.

Sclabassi made the announcement during a morning press conference at the Taylor Police Department. Advance America had been offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to Small's murderer, but has now upped that offer to $35,000. In addition, Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward.

Small, 32, was killed on Nov. 12 at the Advance America location in Taylor. She was a Gibraltar resident and the mother of two. Chief Sclabassi admitted that the case remains at the forefront of the TPD caseload. She also said that the community has been very cooperative in giving the TPD possible leads on the case. Nevertheless, the killer remains at large and is considered dangerous. The suspect, caught on video, is described as white, medium build and height, and between 35 and 50.

Debi Kamin, Chelsea's mother, attended and spoke during the news conference. She admitted that it is very difficult getting through the holiday season without her daughter, whom she called "my wingman" while tearing up in front of the media. She said that it is very difficult, too, explaining the situation to Chelsea's two young children.

Anyone with information on the case should call the Taylor Police Department at (734) 287-6611. Chief Sclabassi also said that anyone with information who wants to remain anonymous should call the Crime Stoppers line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
