Taylor police thank the public for support following death of Cpl. Matthew Edwards

The Taylor Police Department continues to grieve over the loss of Cpl. Matthew Edwards, who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, July 23, 2010.

The Police Department would like to thank the community for its overwhelming generosity and support in this most difficult time.

The Police Department has been working with the Wayne County Prosecutors Office since Friday and expects charges to be issued by week's end.

The defendant remains hospitalized and arraignment will happen as soon as practical.

Thursday, July 29: Public viewing at 11 a.m.; funeral service at Noon
