Texas Hold'em Tournament raises funds for the Junior League World Series in Taylor
The seventh No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament to benefit the Junior League World Series of baseball in Taylor is set for Friday, July 30, at the Holiday Inn on Northline Road at I-75 in Southgate.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the tournament starts at 7 p.m.
The $60 buy-in covers tournament play, beer, pop and food. The tournament is open to the first 152 paid entries.
The minimum guaranteed first place is $1,000, although prizes so far have been as high as $1,500. The winner also will receive a trophy and have his or her name engraved on the Junior League World Series Hold Em Hall of Fame Trophy. Ten percent of the field will cash.
The World Series, featuring the best teams of 13- and 14-year-olds from around the world, will be played for the 30th straight year at Heritage Park. Game dates are August 15-21 with opening ceremonies (including fireworks) starting at 8 p.m. August 14. The Holiday Inn is the new host hotel of the World Series.
