Seniors are encouraged to bring their grandchildren, neighbors and friends of all ages to the William Ford Senior Activity Center, 6750 Troy, on the last four Fridays in July.
The goal is for seniors to share what they do at the center and spend the day with family or friends that have never been there before.
An ice cream social for seniors is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the William Ford Senior Activity Center, 6750 Troy. There will be dancing and musical entertainment by Eddie “O,” along with ice cream and banana splits. Tickets are $7 and must be purchased by July 8. The Senior Center is located west of Telegraph Road and north of Ecorse Road. For more information, call (313) 291-7740.
The City of Taylor’s management association has presented its seventh annual scholarships to two deserving high school graduates from Taylor.
The Taylor Governmental Managers and Administrative Employees Association (TGM & AEA) presented the $750 scholarships to Lindsey Talley and Ryan Smith, both 2009 graduates of Harry S Truman High School. The scholarships were formally awarded June 16 during the Taylor City Council meeting.
This summer, Atlas Cares®, Atlas Oil Company’s charitable arm, is excited to be working with the City of Taylor in transforming an empty lot across the street from its corporate office into a neighborhood jewel that will be known as Atlas Park.
There will be no city primary election this year in Taylor.
Nominating petitions submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by June 23 indicated there were 19 individuals interested in elected offices.
