Taylor Exemplar Academy opens with ribbon-cutting ceremony

An October 5, 2006, ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the opening of Taylor Exemplar Academy, a new charter school located at 26727 Goddard Road.

The school, which opened in the fall, features more than 300 pupils in kindergarten through fifth grade. Similar to all schools managed by National Heritage Academies, Taylor Exemplar will encourage high academic achievement, sound moral values and responsible citizenship. Parent participation and feedback, along with proven teaching methods, are part of the environment.

Guests were welcomed by academy Principal Phil Price, National Heritage Academies President Casey Carter, Board of Directors President David Dezsi and other speakers.

Students participated with the recitation of the Taylor Student Creed, “America the Beautiful” and “Knowledge is Power.”

City Treasurer Wayne Avery, 23rd District Court Judge William Sutherland and Chief of Police Dale Tamsen were among those representing the City of Taylor.

Other members of the academy’s Board of Directors are Susan Chmielewski, Patricia Bacha, Michael Turinsky and Ulysha Renee Hall.
