WrestleMania, bowling form partnerships at Skore Lanes
Tickets for WrestleMania 23 may be sold out, but wrestling fans who enjoy bowling can still win tickets to attend one of the biggest entertainment events in the world in 2007.
The Bowl 'N Go Bowling Clubs, which start in late November, offer bowlers a chance to earn a ticket to the wrestling extravaganza. The club is the result of a partnership between WrestleMania 23, Community Bowling Centers -- a chain of 21 bowling centers around Metro Detroit and other locations -- and www.bowldetroit.com.
Skore Lanes in Taylor was home to the Bowl 'N Go announcement November 9. Representatives of the WWE -- Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Val Venus, "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart and Steve Lombardi -- were on hand to meet and bowl with local fans.
The weekly bowling club involves members bowling in a fun format with some light competition. Every individual that completes the club, which will end the week before WrestleMania 23, will receive a $100 guest seat to the sold-out WrestleMania 23.
Also, the club bowlers will be invited to a private fan rally party on March 28, 2007, where they will have a chance in a private session to meet and greet WWE superstars as well as win special VIP tickets to WrestleMania 23, merchandise and cash.
An expected number of 600 bowlers will participate in this event from bowling centers listed on www.bowldetroit.com. Tickets are guaranteed for every bowler that bowls in the club. These clubs are open to adults, youth and families.
"I'm a huge wrestling fan and have been since I was a kid," said Rudy Bayus of Taylor. "I joined this bowling club so that I can go to WrestleMania 23. Joining this club, I didn’t have to wait in line to buy a ticket and this way, I’m guaranteed a ticket.”
Brenda Chaffins of Flat Rock said: "Wrestling is my life. I would have never been able to go to WrestleMania if I didn’t join this bowling club.”
Marcy Elliott of Livonia added: “My son’s life revolves around wrestling. He eats and sleeps wrestling. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for us to join this league. Not only do we get tickets to WrestleMania 23, but we will also get to go to the private party, where my son will meet WWE superstars in person. What a dream come true for him.”
In a second promotion, WrestleMania 23, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and www.bowldetroit.com are partnering on the WrestleMania 23 Make-A-Wish Foundation Charity Bowling event, set for March 31, 2007, at Skore Lanes in Taylor. The event will feature bowling with WWE superstars and a silent auction. Tickets for the gala event will be on sale in December and more information will be available soon.
The third promotion -- RAW Bowling Nights at Community Bowling Centers -- is a partnership between participating centers on www.bowldetroit.com and WWE Monday Night RAW. The launch date of this event is at 9 p.m. Christmas night. All active and retired military from all branches and their families will bowl free at bowldetroit.com centers on Christmas evening. That same night, the WWE RAW show will broadcast its annual troop outreach event being held in Iraq. Prizes and fun contests will fill the night, as well as a celebration of the military and support of our great nation.
