"The Nutcracker" continues a Taylor and Downriver holiday tradition

Stars of the New York City Ballet will join their talents with the Taylor Ballet Americana and the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra to present three performances of “The Nutcracker”  on Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, at the DSA Ford Theater for the Arts Auditorium, 123 Selden Avenue, Detroit.

The classic ballet will provide visitors with a traditional holiday experience.

A special tiny tots performance with abridged highlights of “The Nutcracker” will be performed at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2.  This program is specifically designed to appeal to younger audiences.

Full-length performances of “The Nutcracker” will be performed at 2 p.m. on December 2 and 3.

The Taylor-based Ballet Americana is an award-winning and nationally recognized dance company.

“This is wonderful and entertaining regional production of the Nutcracker,” said Joy Squire, company director. “Our audiences will love all the attention to detail including the costumes, design and dance routines.”

Guest artists include principal dancers with the New York City Ballet Joaquin De Luz and Megan Fairchild. In addition, Guillermo Resto, also a professional New York dancer, will be featured in the production.
