Rosecrans Picture Perfect Photography grand opening is February 3
A ribbon cutting and open house will welcome visitors to Rosecrans Picture Perfect Photography and Video in the historic Sell/Schonsheck House in Taylor’s scenic Heritage Park.
The open house is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. February 3, with the ribbon cutting set for 2 p.m. The studio is located at 12405 Pardee Road.
Mary Rosecrans has moved her 10-year-old photography business from her Southgate home to the 98-year-old home that fronts Heritage Park. During the open house, she plans to have a huge wedding cake, champagne fountain and at least two limousines from Luxury Limousine, plus a variety of her photography work.
The public is invited to the open house. City officials from Taylor and Southgate are expected to be on hand, along with her pastor, the Rev. Father Michael Cremin of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wyandotte. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
Rosecrans specializes in weddings, sports photography, family and children’s portraits and graduation photography, and plans to expand to pet photography. She is an experienced wedding organizer and can assist with all details of the event.
Rosecrans regularly shoots photos of wedding parties in Heritage Park and she contacted the City of Taylor as soon as she heard the Sell/Schonsheck House was available for rent.
“For me to get this historical house in Heritage Park, right next to the chapel (Heritage West Mound Church) – I could not ask for anything more,” she said. “The park is a picture-perfect setting for my business, no doubt about it.”
Rosecrans and her assistants worked hard on the nearly century-old house before scheduling the grand opening. They repaired the walls, repainted, cleaned and added new signage – all while keeping the house as original as possible.
“Hopefully, room by room we can get it restored like it was a long time ago,” she said. “The building is so big and has so much charm. It will be the perfect place to greet people. I’m really, really excited.”
Rosecrans has been married 17 years to her husband Mark. The couple has three daughters: Jennifer 15, Vanessa 13, and Sarah 9.
It was her children’s participation in soccer that led to Rosecrans’ career in photography. An avid photographer for many years, she noticed that the Southgate soccer program did not have anyone taking team and individual shots. When she approached the Parks and Recreation Department, she was asked if she was interested. Her first assignment was taking photos of 700 players.
Since then her business has grown dramatically and she has developed an excellent reputation in her 10 years in business.
Rosecrans said she appreciates the reception she has received in Taylor. She has worked closely with Linda Keacher of the City of Taylor Department of Golf, Parks and Recreation.
“Everybody has been so nice,” she said. “There’s something about Taylor. There seems to be such a really tight-knit group. I just want to extend a sincere thank you to Linda and the entire department."
Rosecrans Picture Perfect’s regular studio hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Her staff includes photographers, videographers, assistants and a receptionist.
