Cultural Arts Commission offers scholarships

The Taylor Cultural Arts Commission has announced a new scholarship program for graduating seniors beginning with the current school year.

Two scholarships, each in the amount of $500, will be available to graduating high school seniors.  The application deadline is April 6, 2007, and notification of the awards will take place May 1.

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be a graduating senior and a Taylor resident who attends school in or out of the city. The applicant must be planning to enter a career related to the arts, including dance, music, theatre, fine arts or any related fields. The student must provide a portfolio of work or be able to adequately demonstrate talent, must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 and must provide three required letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a teacher in the arts.
