Women’s health and wellness tour features displays and seminars

A two-day women’s health and wellness tour will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. May 15 and 16 on the grounds of the Oakwood Dearborn Medical Park, 18100 Oakwood Blvd., directly across from Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center.

In an effort to raise women’s health awareness, the tour – hosted in partnership with GE Healthcare – will offer women the opportunity to participate in a variety of health screenings and learn about Oakwood services through a number of live informational sessions featuring Oakwood physicians and clinical staff. The event is free and open to the community.

Visitors will have the chance to tour two expandable GE Wellness trailers, which feature a full kitchen for healthy cooking demonstrations and a number of interactive health displays focused on women’s health; including a digital mammography education workstation, self-breast exam display, three and four dimensional imaging and interactive pregnancy timeline with images, bone density and general health screenings.

Additionally, a number of educational seminars will take place on the external lecture stages of the trailers, featuring topics of interest such as cardiac, bone and gynecological health, genetic risk assessment, sports-related medicine and complimentary medicine such as massage therapy, Tai Chi, acupuncture and hypnosis.

The external lecture stages will host the following topics on the half hour:
2:30 p.m. Smoking Cessation
3 p.m. Complementary Medicine
3:30 p.m. Genetic Risk Assessment
4 p.m. Breast Health
