What a weekend in Taylor!
Summer hits the City of Taylor in a big way this weekend, June 1-3.
-Relay for Life -- the main fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society -- starts 10 a.m. Saturday and ends 10 a.m. Sunday at Heritage Park. There's so much to this event that you have to see it to understand it. It's fun, it's emotional, it's memorable. On Saturday, don't miss the Survivor's Lap at 10 a.m. and the Luminaria event at dusk
-The annual Pet-A-Palooza also takes place at Heritage Park, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Adopt a pet, see animals perform tricks and much more.
-A fund-raising spaghetti dinner is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Keefer's Blue Line Saloon. The money raised will buy Fire Department materials to help teach kids about fire safety.
-The St. John's Lutheran Church and School Family Fun Festival runs through Sunday. A marketplace vendor show takes place at he same site Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A Mom-to-Mom Resale is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
-The Democratic Club of Taylor will host a classic car show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
-The "Ride for a Reason" motorcycle ride will raise money for The Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor. Bikers must register between 10 a.m. and noon Sunday at Cabela's in Dundee.
-St. Alfred Catholic Church will sponsor a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
-St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church will hold a parish golf outing at Taylor Meadows Golf Club on Saturday.
-Light and Life Christian School will host a state district softball and baseball tournaments on Saturday morning and afternoon. Another Taylor school, Baptist Park, is one of the teams in the hunt for a district championship.
-Recruits will become the newest members of the all-volunteer Taylor Auxiliary Police during graduation ceremonies at 1 p.m. Sunday at City Hall.
-Gibraltar Trade Center will hold a computer show and a scrapbooking show.
