American Red Cross appeals to blood donors in Taylor; drive is Sept. 27
The American Red Cross has reached emergency blood levels, prompting the Taylor Police Department to host a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. September 27 directly behind the Police Station at 23515 Goddard Road. Walk-ins are welcome.
The move follows an urgent appeal for blood donors from the Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region. Recent extraordinary patient needs and consistent low donor turnout this month have caused the local blood supply to drop to critically low levels.
The local blood supply has a one-day supply or less of four of the eight blood types. This includes types O-positive and O-negative blood, the types most used with trauma patients. Low inventories across the country prevent other Red Cross regions from providing assistance.
