Community dinner benefits wounded soldiers and their families

Rotarians of District 6400 are sharing active duties to spearhead a spectacular event by combining efforts to have multi-club benefit dinner from 5:30 to 10 p.m. October 24 at Crystal Gardens in Southgate. Participating local Rotary clubs include Taylor, Trenton, Monroe and Dearborn Heights. All proceeds to benefit wounded soldiers and families.

This benefit dinner event will feature several incredible speakers: a World Trade Center survivor and a returning wounded veteran. Both will share their experiences in an effort to raise awareness and funds for projects to support our wounded troops and families. The evening also will include live and silent auctions and special prizes. All net proceeds will benefit military heroes through the efforts of the Michigan Military Moms, Operation Quiet Comfort and other military support groups.

Area residents can show their support by purchasing tickets ($35 each in advance; $40 at the door), buying tickets for someone else (including a member of the military), sponsoring the event and/or donating a silent auction item, such as a gift basket or gift certificate. The Web site for the event is http://www.honorandcomfort.com.
