Heritage Martial Arts at the Taylor Sportsplex
Heritage Martial Arts Center is comprised of a family of martial artists who began Tae Kwon Do training in 1995 and have since acquired mixed martial arts training. They teach several different disciplines learned from Michigan’s best Masters and Grand Masters.
Herb and Amy Proctor, founders and head trainers of the center, teach with a foundation of Tae Kwon Do. However, they also believe a combination of martial art forms can be "Taylor-made" to every individual. They teach core principles from their diverse backgrounds to help students succeed. The Proctors have learned from the best, including Grand Master B. C. Yu, a ninth-degree Korean Grand Master with more than 46 years of experience.
Having taught kickboxing for the past five years, the Proctors credit their diverse training for adding a “twist” to their Cardio Kickboxing classes, where they teach the basic moves of self-defense. They encourage students to come to class with an attitude and ready to hit the bag! Black belt instructors are present at all kickboxing classes to help participants use proper techniques and prevent injury ensuring a maximum work out for students.
The Heritage Martial Arts Center has recently expanded to include a new studio on the first floor at the Taylor Sportsplex, where the public is welcome to visit. Participants can register for classes at a cost of $45 per month or pay a drop-in fee. Classes are held on the second floor of the TSX, 13333 Telegraph Road.
