Winter tax payments can be made December 26-28

The Treasurer's Office at Taylor City Hall will accept 2007 tax payments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, to Friday, December 28.

City Hall is located at 23555 Goddard Road. The collection lockbox on Pine Street outside of City Hall can also be used for submitting payments 24 hours per day. City Hall offices will not be open over the weekend or on December 31, 2007.

The 2007 Winter tax bills are due without penalty before February 15, 2008. The 2007 Summer tax bills were due before October 1, 2007, and are currently accruing monthly late payment penalties if unpaid, except seniors who previously applied for a deferral of their summer tax payment to February 14, 2008.

Tax payments postmarked on or before December 31, 2007, will be processed with a December 2007 date of receipt, as will payments deposited into the lockbox before January 1, 2008. Payments processed with a 2007 payment date will be posted to the tax accounts no later than January 10, 2008, including mortgage company payments. Taxpayers are encouraged to use the mail and the lockbox to avoid potentially long lines at the cashier's window toward the end of the year.

Replica tax bills and payment information are available online for most tax parcels via the City's website: Just follow the links to online services and tax information to find the balance due on your 2007 tax bills.

Please use your cancelled check as your receipt. A statement of taxes levied will not be issued by the Treasurer's Office in January. Please reference the available information online.

The City of Taylor appreciates your prompt payment of your property taxes. It enables the Treasurer's Office and the city's other departments to serve your needs in the manner you have a right to expect.

Best wishes from all of us for the holiday season.
