Kids’ art education classes available in Taylor
Registration is under way for Abrakadoodle®, the leading art education program in the country, which is offered at the Taylor Recreation Center.
Abrakadoodle®, organized in partnership with Crayola®, focuses on child creativity using a wide variety of three-dimensional art experiences. The program offers “Art is Smart” classes, which is available to children from 20 months old to 12 years old.
Sculpting, painting, foil embossing, collage, mosaics, paper art, stamping, digital photography and additional activities are all part of the exclusive curriculum that trained artists and educators will bring to each class. Students learn about famous art masters and techniques while expressing their own creativity.
The six-week sessions will be held on Fridays, February 1 through March 7. Register now at the Recreation Center, located at 22805 Goddard Road. Classes are $75 with a $12 material fee.
Classes with current openings include:
- Twoosy Doodlers, for children ages 20-36 months, will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Twoosies learn fundamental skills and experiment with basic materials while improving motor, language and self-help skills. Parents are encouraged to stay during class.
- Mini Doodlers, for ages 3½ to 5, will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Mini Doodlers create their own unique masterpieces using a variety of high-quality materials. Children develop important school readiness skills such as fine motor, listening, following directions, and language while igniting their own imaginations.
- Doodlers, for ages 6 to 12, will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Doodlers develop a wide variety of new skills and technique. Each lesson focuses on the expansion of knowledge and imagination using various materials, tools and styles.
All materials used during the classes are non-toxic and washable. The artwork is framed and displayed for a special gallery showing to parents and friends.
