Open house puts area services for the elderly, caregivers on display
Are you caring for an elderly family member or friend? Are you stressed or overwhelmed and need to plan for future needs?
An open house featuring a myriad of services provided around the Downriver area will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, at Taylor City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road.
The session will provide options, information and resources to help local residents navigate the service delivery system and meet the needs of loved ones.
Representatives will be on hand from:
AARP Foundation/WorkSearch – Provides free assistance to mature job seekers that need or want to continue working and maintain their financial security. A new Work Search Assessment System helps more individuals and businesses.
American House Senior Residences – A leader in senior living residences in Michigan offering many different options for high-quality, affordable housing. Customized levels of service are tailored to meet residents’ needs.
American Red Cross Lifeline – Provides peace of mind 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and enables seniors to continue to live independently in their own home.
The Information Center Inc. – Provides information, consultation and referral to connect resources and services to people who need them.
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Catholic Social Services, Wayne County – Provides volunteer opportunities for adults 55 and over to serve the community through a variety of volunteer positions in nonprofit organizations.
Elder Law and Advocacy Center of NLSM (Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan) – Offers free legal services, elder abuse education and prevention, plus guidance, information and referral resources to senior citizens and caregivers.
The Senior Alliance – coordinates the Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) with trained counselors to assist elders in Western and Southern Wayne County with Medicare/Medicaid issues.
Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan – The name to know for home health care and hospice services in Metro Detroit for more than 100 years.
