Puppet show and puppet-making workshop February 23 in Taylor

A puppet show and puppet-making workshop featuring master puppeteer Eugene Clark will be presented at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at the Downriver Campus of Wayne County Community College District, 21000 Northline Road.

"Jo-Jo Fish and the Magic Pearl" will be sponsored by the Taylor-based Downriver Council for the Arts in the Ray Mix Room at WCCCD.

The lively and interactive performance is appropriate for children ages 3 and older. The workshop immediately follows the performance.

Clark, whose performances have been described as "mesmerizing" and "bedazzling," has performed extensively for more than 20 years. He has conducted assembly programs, performed at festivals and corporate events and has taught workshops for various age groups. He has been juried into the Michigan Arts & Humanities Touring Arts Director, a publication the promotes Michigan artists and performers.

A $5 registration fee is required. It includes the performance, workshop and supplies. To register in advance, call the Downriver Council for the Arts office at (734) 287-6103 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Registrations will be accepted at the door. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

The program is supported in part by WCCCD and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
