Taylor Relay for Life team captains meeting is March 27

The Taylor Relay for Life team captains meeting is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the media center of John F. Kennedy High School off Northline Road, east of Telegraph road. (Use the “Main Entrance.)

The meeting is for captains of teams set to participate in the Relay for Life set for 10 a.m. May 31 to 10 a.m. June 1 at Heritage Park. The event is the signature fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society.

Invited to the meeting are teams that have already registered, teams that still need to register and prospective teams that need a little more information before they decide to register. Team chairwoman Sue Shufeldt said that information will be covered at the meeting.

Before the meeting, teams should decide on a team name, pick a captain and co-captain, read through the materials that have been distributed so far, think about team fund-raisers and spread the word about the event, which raises funds and awareness of cancer research and patient programs.

At the meeting you will register the team (if you have not already), find out how to register for online fund-raising, tell the organizers if you are taking advantage of one of the incentives for the team fee, pick up a team mission delivery package, pick up a sponsorship commitment form (if you’re securing a sponsor), pick up a form to collect survivor names for the ceremony and luncheon, get fund-raising ideas from the committee and find out more about the event structure and plans.

To those who are coming to the meeting but have not decided whether to put together a team: see one of the organizers after the meeting.
