Kids invited to learn to fish at Heritage Park

Children ages 7 to 12 can participate in a free youth fishing expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Coan Lake in Heritage Park.

The fourth annual expo is a partnership between the City of Taylor and the Downriver Campus of Wayne County Community College District in Taylor.

The day brings practical and hands-on information to children about fishing and water safety. Participants will learn how to identify specific fish, about bait that works and how to cast properly. There will be vendors on site.

Supplies will be provided for the day. The expo is limited to the first 100 children that register. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

To register, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (734) 374-3906. For more information, call the college at (734) 946-3500.
