Airport master plan, expansion are topics of open house

Taylor residents and business people interested in the proposed master plan and possible expansion of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport can review the document and express concerns during six open houses.

The sessions, hosted by the Wayne County Airport Authority, are scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. April 23, 9 a.m. to Noon and 6 to 9 p.m. April 29, and 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 to 4 p.m. May 1 at the Metropolitan Hotel, 31500 Wick Road, Romulus.

Directions to the hotel from I-94 in Taylor: Take I-94 west to Exit 198 (Merriman Road). Turn left at the first signal light onto Wickham Road. Continue onto Wick Road.

All six sessions will provide the same resources, including informational displays (large charts and maps). Representatives of the authority's planning team will address questions and concerns.

Taylor city officials have gone on record opposing the proposed master plan for expansion of the airport. Mayor Cameron G. Priebe proposed a resolution that was adopted unanimously by the City Council. For more information on that, click here:
