Funeral arrangements announced for Taylor Auxiliary Police Lt. Dan Kromer
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Taylor Auxiliary Police Lt. Dan Kromer, who was killed in the line of duty in a hit-and-run Tuesday night on I-94.
Visitation is scheduled at Martenson Funeral Home, 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park. General public visitation is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, and 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 15.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 16, at the Wayne County Community College District Downriver Campus, 21000 Northline Road, Taylor. Lt. Kromer will be in state at 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at noon.
There will be no procession to the cemetery.

Taylor Police have arrested one person connection with the fatal hit-and-run accident. Two others were questioned and released.
Working on information from the public, Taylor police and officers from other agencies worked around the clock leading to the arrest of a Dearborn man on Thursday.
The suspect’s name is not being released at this time. Information will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Lt. Kromer, a 20-year veteran of the all-volunteer Taylor Auxiliary Police Department, was pronounced dead Tuesday night at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn. The incident occurred at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday on the shoulder of westbound I-94 at Monroe in Taylor.
Police said Lt. Kromer, 54, was providing assistance to a motorist on the shoulder of the freeway when he was struck by a white car. The hit-and-run vehicle fled west on I-94. Neither the occupants of the idle vehicle nor Lt. Kromer’s partner were injured.
On Friday afternoon, Taylor police officers and auxiliary officers were joined by their families and city employees in a drive-by salute near the police statue in front of the Taylor Police Department.
