Residents encouraged to pay their respects to Lt. Kromer on Thursday morning

Residents of Taylor and surrounding communities are encouraged to line the route on which the late Taylor Auxiliary Police Lt. Dan Kromer will be transported from the Martenson Funeral Home in Allen Park to the Downriver Campus of Wayne County Community College District in Taylor.

A hearse escorted by Taylor officers is expected to leave Martenson some time between 10 and 10:15 a.m. The procession will travel west on Goddard Road past Taylor City Hall and the municipal complex, south on Beech Daly to Northline Road and east on Northline to the college, 21000 Northline Road.

Lt. Kromer is scheduled to be in state at the college starting at 11 a.m. Funeral services begin at noon. Hundreds of officers from around the region are expected to be in attendance.

City of Taylor offices will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow employees to pay their respects along the procession route and attend the funeral.

There will be no procession to the cemetery.

Lt. Kromer was killed in the line of duty while providing assistance to stranded motorists on I-94 the evening of September 7. A Dearborn man accused of driving a hit-and-run vehicle faces six counts, including second-degree murder.
