A letter from Ed Montague -- Umpire of the Year
The following letter was sent by World Series umpire Ed Montague of Santa Rosa, California, to Junior League World Series Director Greg Bzura.
I would to thank you, the tournament committee and all of the numerous volunteers who made the 2006 Junior League World Series the success that it was. I wish that I could thank them all personally.
Everyone that I met from the time Sam Pizzo and Orland King met me and my wife Connie at the airport until they dropped us of to return home was extremely friendly and helpful. The week that I spent in Taylor was the most exciting time of my umpiring career.
The community of Taylor should be very proud of the premier event that you have created for the top Junior League teams of the world to showcase their talent.
I look forward to returning to the Junior League World Series as an umpire alumnus. I can picture myself standing among the flags behind center field, looking towards home plate and saying to myself: "This is where dreams really do come true."
Thank You Again
