St. Alfred Parish festival is September 15-17

The 42nd annual Fall Festival at St. Alfred Catholic Church is set for September 15-17 on the parish grounds at 9500 Banner, on Telegraph Road just south of Wick Road.

The festival features three days of family fun, entertainment, games, raffles, food and beverages.

Midway hours are 5 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, September 15; noon to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, September 16; and 1 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, September 17. Ride wristbands are available for $17 for noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and all day Sunday.

The entertainment schedule includes the following:
September 15 – Country singer Willie Nash, 7 to 11:30 p.m.
September 16 – Kirk McFee, 2 to 6 p.m.; Export, 7 to 11:30 p.m.
September 17 – Danceland, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Steve King and the Dittilies, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Radio station WYCD (99.5-FM), “Detroit’s best country,” will broadcast live from the festival with Edwards and Lee from 3 to 7 p.m. September 15, Mike Scott on the air from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 16 and Rob Bennett on site from 4 to 8 p.m. September 17.

Bingo and Vegas hours are 6 to 11:30 p.m. September 15, 4 to 11:30 p.m. September 16 and 2 to 9 p.m. September 17.

Dinners will be served all three days:
September 15 – Deep fried turkey or salmon, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, roll, butter, beverage and dessert; $6 for turkey, $8 for salmon or $10 for a combination.
September 16 – Spaghetti, salad, roll, butter, beverage and dessert; $7.
September 17 – Chicken, red skin potatoes, vegetables, salad, roll, butter, beverage and dessert; $9
The price is $1 less for seniors.

The festival also features a kids’ game tent, face painting, Jack the Balloon Man, “the dollar dream” and 50/50 raffles. The grand prize winner of $12,000 in the “big raffle” will be announced at 9:30 p.m. September 17.

A Nigerian Mass will be celebrated at noon September 17 in the Big Tent.
