Mission: "The Taylor Police Department shall provide leadership in Community Policing and Problem Solving in order to preserve, protect and defend people and property, while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons."

The Taylor Police Department provides a full range of police services to the people of Taylor 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department is responsible for patrolling city neighborhoods, responding to calls for police service, investigating crimes and arresting offenders, and working closely with the community to identify and solve problems of crime and neighborhood disorder.

In addition, the department has offices working with federal, state and county multi-jurisdictional task forces to assist in stemming the flow of illegal narcotics to the entire region.

With an authorized sworn force of about 100 officers, the Taylor Police Department is the largest law-enforcement agency in the Downriver area. As such, the department has been the leader in bringing improved technology and methods into the field of police work over the last decade.
