POLICE WARN scam artist make be working the community

Taylor Police are warning residents that a man posing as a worker for DTE may be circulating in the community after committing a robbery over the weekend.
The larceny occurred in the Telegraph Road-Filmore Street area, when the man knocked on the front door of a home, identified himself as a DTE worker was the invited inside. After having the resident sign what appeared to be an authentic document, he lured her basement to “turn the lights off in the fuse box and wait 30 seconds.” While she did, he went upstairs, stole various items and fled.
Unfortunately, the resident could offer only a vague description of the man: He was wearing a dirty facemask, and may have had an accent.
Police recommend that residents be aware of the situation, and always avoid letting strangers into their home or apartment. If you come in contact with this scam artist or information on him, please call Taylor Police at (734) 287-6611.
