COOLING CENTERS available again as temperatures soar into 90s

Temperatures are expected to soar into the 90s today and remain in the high 80s and 90s the rest of the week. Wayne County is issuing a Heat Advisory and the City of Taylor is offering cooling centers in certain buildings.
Forecasters are predicting sunny skies with temperatures heading into the high 90s off and on through Friday.
The City of Taylor will make available cooling centers at the following locations:
• Recreation Center (open 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at 22805 Goddard)
• Senior Center (open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 6740 Troy)
• Sportsplex (open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday at 13333 Telegraph).
An unofficial cooling center is available is Southland Mall. The main lobby is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Five ways to stay cool during heat waves:
• Drink water and stay hydrated
• Find air conditioning. If your home does not have air conditioning, go to the shopping mall or a cooling station
• Insulate your house
• Wear sunscreen
• Avoid strenuous activities.
Also, if you have pets, make sure they are hydrated and are brought inside, especially during the hottest times of the day.
