COVID-19

Pfizer and BioNTech announced data from preclinical studies of their COVID-19 vaccine. Their vaccine was shown to effectively prevent COVID-19 infection in non-human primates. This and more in today’s Wayne County Report for September 11, 2020.

These results contributed to Pfizer and BioNTech’s decision to proceed to the next phase of their clinical study. There are currently over 25,000 participants enrolled in the Phase 2/3, with additional enrollment planned. The preclinical studies are currently undergoing scientific peer-review.

According to countywide health data for September 10, 2020, Taylor recorded two new infections, upping their total number to 994. There were no new deaths; that number remains at 76.
