Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed Executive Orders 2020-183 and 2020-185, involving reopening movie theaters and performance venues, along with requiring all pupils K-12 in certain regions of the state to wear face coverings in classrooms. Executive Order 2020-183 amends the MI Safe Start order to reopen movie theaters and performance venues, beginning on October 9. It also raises the limit on non-residential indoor gatherings and events from 10 to 20 people per 1,000 square feet, or 20 percent of fixed seating capacity.
Executive Order 2020-185 requires all students in grades kindergarten and up in regions 1-5 and 7 to wear a face covering in classrooms. Students in fifth grade and younger were not previously required to wear them.
According to the countywide health data for September 27, 2020, Taylor recorded no new cases of COVID-19 or related deaths. Those Taylor totals remain at 1,033 and 78, respectively, for the year.
