COVID-19 UPDATE: Increased holiday travel could result in virus spike

COVID-19

American air travel hit its highest level on Saturday (January 2) since mid-March, raising fears that the spike in holiday travel will result in another surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths in upcoming weeks. This and more in the Wayne County Report for January 5, 2021.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said that the pandemic could likely get worse in the next couple weeks as the U.S. experiences a delayed impact of post-Christmas holiday travel in the report from CNBC News.

The countywide health data released January 4 showed Taylor had 17 newly confirmed cases, upping its total to 2,796. There was one more COVID-related death, upping that overall total to 115.

The City strongly suggests that residents always wear masks when and where they are recommended. Residents can pick up free reusable face masks at City Hall. Social distance. Sanitize your hands on a regular basis.

Please note that free COVID-19 testing is available at the Lakes of Taylor Golf Course. It is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. This is a drive-thru testing facility open to anyone in the region. The Lakes of Taylor is located on Northline Road between Telegraph and Beech Daly.
