The Michigan House of Representatives passed a budget that includes investments in health care, child care and infrastructure – a part of which provides $500,000 for Taylor Fire Department apparatus. State Rep. Alex Garza (D-Taylor) presented Fire Chief Stephen Portis with the check on Friday.

“I am pleased that my colleagues and I could come to a bipartisan agreement to finalize the budget and bring money back to our community,” Rep. Garza said. “The $500,000 will be a tremendous help to the brave first responders at the Taylor Fire Department: City Council unanimously approved the $500,000 appropriation at their latest City Council meeting. Also representing the City in the photo were Council members Angie Winton and Charley Johnson and several members of the TFD.
