Birch and Monroe streets targets for resurfacing in October

orange barrel

Birch Street, between Koths and Goddard, and Monroe Street, between Ecorse Road north to the I-94 freeway viaduct, are scheduled to be resurfaced by the City of Taylor.

The work will start the week of Monday, October 7 on Birch Street. Monroe Street will be done between October 14 and November 2.

The existing surface will be milled and pulverized, a granular base will be constructed, graded and compacted, and the final road surface will be constructed. During this time residents or businesses may lose access to driveways and the front or side of their house or business for short periods of time.

For your own convenience, and so that the work can be performed in a safe and timely manner, remove vehicles from the street and park vehicles in driveways or other locations when we are working on your street.

Trash pick-up will continue on the regularly scheduled day and trash containers should be placed at the edge of the street. On side streets, locate the containers such that they will be away from parked vehicles and be able to be picked up by the waste hauler.

We apologize for the inconvenience this work may cause you. Should you have any questions, kindly contact Richard McCarty, City Engineer, at 734-374-1473, or by email at
