At least five COVID-19 cases have been tracked to a wedding reception on July 18 at the Crystal Gardens Banquet Hall in Southgate.
The wedding was reported to have over 100 guests. The Wayne County Public Health Division is sending out notifications to all Wayne County banquet halls reaffirming the Governor’s orders. Inspections at banquet halls and other large venues are increasing to confirm compliance with the order.
Attendees of the Southgate reception are encouraged to call the Wayne County Public Health Division at (734) 727-7078 to report their contacts, get tested by a healthcare provider as soon as possible, and self-quarantine at home as directed.
In addition, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed new Executive Orders, amending Michigan’s Safe Start Order and issuing revised workplace safeguards. Under the Safe Start Order, starting July 31, 2020, statewide indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 people and bars will be closed for indoor service across the state, including in Regions 6 and 8. See executive orders 2020-160 and 20230-161.

The July 29, 2020, Wayne County COVID-19 daily report on countywide confirmed cases, deaths and total data per community has been delayed because of a substantial addition by the state of old cases and previously uncounted cases.
Public Health staff are reviewing each case to determine which is a new case that occurred within the last day and which is a new case but from a test that occurred weeks or months ago. The delay in reporting is necessary to give an accurate count of new cases in each community. Look for the updated numbers to be included in the next report.
